Design Challenge: School ID Card

Join us every end of the week!(3).png

Scenario:

As part of a security initiative, the district is looking to replace all the employee ID cards with a new, fresh look. As such, it has decided to hold a competition to select a winning design. You have entered the competition. The brief is short. The district is looking for an ID card that includes:

  • the district employee's name
  • the district employee's photo
  • the teaching grade, subject area, or employee role

An ID card must be easy to read at a glance and not too busy. The winner gets an additional personal day!

Instructions:

When you design your ID cards, remember that step 1 in the Design Thinking process is empathy, or the human element. Think about the people that you are designing for. How you can best represent them in your design? Do you have school colors you can include? A logo? A goal statement or motto? The choice is yours.

If you want to use a Canva template, you absolutely can (details below), but feel free to add or subtract from the template to make sure that it looks the way you want it to and meets the needs of the challenge. Change colors, fonts, icons, or anything else you feel would better fit your needs. If you prefer to start with a blank canvas, that is fine, too!

As you work through this assignment, remember the design thinking model for planning and problem-solving.
